What can I say, my week with Embrace exceeded all expectations. I was slightly worried that it wouldn’t actually feel like a holiday amongst all the training, but how wrong could I be! The Embrace team make it possible for you to give 100% at every training session, as everything else is taken care of for you – you can then spend the rest of the day relaxing/sunbathing/eating ice cream/belly laughing hard with your newly made friends (aka ‘Embrace family’ by the end of the week).
The training was excellent and in stunning locations along the coast – I’ve never run in such beautiful places. The food was delicious AND nutritious – hats off to the coaches who are amazing chefs too. But my favourite part was definitely getting to know such a lovely group of fellow runners, and how sociable and fun the entire week is. I will definitely be returning for another camp at some point in the future, and cannot recommend the holiday enough to anyone who is unsure – just go for it, you won’t regret it!
My second time visiting the Embrace team on this March running holiday in the Algarve (first was 3 years ago) and definitely surpassed my expectations again. A great week of coaching across a variety of types of runs including a trail session which is a highlight as well as track, hill and targeted efforts. Tips on technique and running form are also provided and the week overall definitely emphasises what you are doing well and what you need to keep working on!
What is great is how the team consider runners from different backgrounds of experience and abilty to ensure everyone gets something out of the week. Food and accommodation are superb with the coaches putting a great effort in to cook some incredible dishes. You also get to meet so many new runners who become friends with so many different stories, the week is interesting and extremely enjoyable. Would recommend to everyone and I’m already looking forward to my next holiday with these guys.
Thank you to all Embrace team for such a wonderful week!
I’m so glad I resisted the temptation of a lazy sun holiday and chose instead to spend my Easter holidays running in a variety of beautiful locations, eating absolutely delicious food, hanging out with like minded runners, soaking up the sun and chilling by the pool. It was definitely my ideal holiday and I’ll most certainly be back.
My running has definitely improved, I feel fitter and stronger and I’m now a lot more motivated to challenge myself and hit future PBs! Thanks guys 🙂
This was my second time on the end of March running camp and 3rd time in the Algarve with Embrace. The running schedule maybe the same but there’s always a few surprises to keep things interesting and as usual it’s the other like minded runners and the excellent coaches themselves that make the week so memorable.
Excellent food as always, excellent company, made many new friends and the weather wasn’t too bad either. Oh and we did lots of running, a great training week / holiday all in one 🙂
Top job Embrace, you’ve got the formula spot on!
Just back from a great week with Embrace. As a first-time solo traveller I was a tiny bit nervous, but I shouldn’t have been as from the outset the whole Embrace team and other runners were a fab bunch and you really do feel like part of the family. I did more running than I thought possible, and actually felt stronger and stronger as the week went on because of the recovery (by the pool!) and the amazing food – very tasty and nutritious (speaking as a 95% veggie) and plenty of it! It was my first trip with Embrace but it won’t be the last, can’t wait to go back!
The training and location is great, the food is plentiful and delicious and the sun was warm but the two best bits of magic for me: 1. the coaches are so lovely and positive and this gave the week a fabulous, chilled atmosphere … tons of running aside and 2. I loved the way a group of strangers started the week but we evolved into a group of friends before sadly, it was time to fly home.
Thank you Embrace team for a fantastic week – my first of hopefully many more Embrace holidays. I had heard great things but you still managed to exceed expectations. Not only is the running catered for every level of runner to support whatever they are (or aren’t) training for, but the supportive coaching and fantastic catering makes the training almost feel like a breeze (my legs might not have thought that straight after each session though ;-). What truly makes the experience though is the fantastic friends you make on the way. I can’t wait to see them again at races here in the UK and at future Embrace holidays.
Excellent as always, this was my 5th trip to Embrace. I love every minute of it.
The training is always impeccable, I am feeling more ready for my marathon now than ever before.
It’s brilliant for all levels, and I have improved so much over the 4 years I have been training with these guys. Made so many new friends and see them again on multiple holidays.
The food and accommodation are always great, and the coaches are so welcoming of everyone.
I am sure I’ll be back for more!
This was my second Embrace running holiday. It was just as amazing as last year. Right from, the start of the week the coaches felt like old friends, and by the end of the holiday so did the rest of the group. The week is a great combination of running in some wonderful, varied locations, together with a relaxed social element, plenty of time for chilling and recovery and with lots of good food (and wine!).
Even though it was supposed to be a running holiday my husband and I took our road bikes over too (as I have just got a bike with ambitions to start doing duathlons). So we spent a couple of the ‘recovery’ sessions out with our bikes. I love that the coaches really supported the additional activity – my end of the week target run was actually a run-bike-run – my first taste of a duathlon race – I was so nervous before doing it, but buzzing by the end of it!
Even though I felt tired by the end of the week but my legs surprised me the following weekend with a new PB in a half marathon, so the training for the week evidently paid off!
Thanks again Embrace! See you again in the Pyrenees in May!
We returned from our second Embrace trip full of enthusiasm for a summer of running. It’s a great way to brush off the winter cobwebs. Whatever your ability or level, the running is challenging and tailored to suit every member of the group. The sense of achievement at the end of the week is worth the effort.
The coaches are fantastic cooks, with the menus carefully thought out in relation to fuelling and recovery. These guys work so hard behind the scenes while us “guests” recover by the pool.
Their knowledge is amazing and they are so encouraging of each and every runner from the super dooper runner to the not so super and everyone in between.
The feeling of camaraderie in the group is great, with everyone from 60 plus year olds to 20 somethings getting along together, helping each other out, supporting each other and just having a fun time together. Celebrating a milestone birthday with this great group of people is something I’ll remember for a long, long time.
Looking forward to trying the Alps next!
Keep doing what you do so well Neil and Co.
Fantastic week in Lagos. Was my first training holiday with Embrace and I absolutely loved it. Great bunch of supportive people (coaches and other runners), plenty of tasty food, and a wide variety of training sessions. I didn’t believe I would be able to do all the sessions, or run twice in one day, as it seemed like too big a step up from my normal running week but I really surprised myself and discovered how much you can achieve when you are being looked after so well and have time to relax. Thank you and I hope to come back to another camp. Highly recommended.
My 3rd Embrace holiday and it won’t be my last. Great running locations, great session set ups, fantastic accommodation and tasty food. It’s a bargain and so many people come back that every time you go again it’s like meeting up with old friends.
If you want a more detailed view of what happens each day, I wrote them up over here: http://www.rock-crawler.co.uk/2019/04/08/embrace-holiday-round-up/
Highly recommended!
Thanks to all the embrace team for a great week of running in Portugal. The setup was excellent and allows for some tough but enjoyable training sessions. Looking forward to my second trip!
I have no felt so happy and healthy coming back from a holiday. It was brilliant for the body and mind. It was great to be part of a group – the location is stunning, he hotel set up and pool are excellent. The food is brilliant and overall it is superb value for money. Couldn’t be more positive about the experience, would be very tempted to try more.
I enjoyed this holiday so much! What a great way to escape the work week! I appreciated being coached and learning how to train, rather than just running. The coaches were kind, encouraging, and fun. Meals were fabulous! And Such a wonderful, supportive group of friends! Everything was so well organized which created a relaxed environment. I will definitely like to participate in another Embrace camp!
I have just returned from my first running holiday with Embrace (Lagos). As a 63 year old (but highly competitive!) lady on her own, I didn’t know what to expect but had a super week and ran many more miles than I have ever done before. I found the sessions extremely well-organised, very varied and appropriately challenging. Accommodation and food definitely exceeded expectations and the guys in the group (as well as the coaches of course!) were particularly pleasant, inclusive and encouraging. What I did also particularly enjoy was the freedom to have time on my own and to get out and explore Lagos and indeed the other places we visited during our runs. Thank you Embrace!
This was my first time on a running holiday and I’m a novice (and older) runner so the schedule of two runs a day was quite a daunting prospect! The entire holiday was extremely well organised and the coaches were very encouraging. The variety of runs was great – trail, beach, track, hill – and a great way to see the area. I plodded along at the back of the pack most of the time, but by the end of the week had run three times as much as I thought I could, and had done my first ever decent 10k without stopping, and came home on a high! I had a great time and it’s probably one of the best holidays I’ve ever had for leaving worries at home and just enjoying the experience. The food was great, and the atmosphere informal and relaxed. Thanks Embrace, and hope to see you again!
This was my 3rd Trip away with Embrace and it just gets better every time, the Coaches, Food, Atmosphere & Running makes this the perfect holiday for any level of runner.
Even in a larger group of people the experience was not diluted and coaches were on hand to answer any questions at all times of the day.
Every time I have been I have improved my running massively throughout the variety of running routes, track sessions and trail runs. The views are second to none and I spent a lot of the recovery runs taking photos.
The afternoons & evenings are spent getting to know your fellow Embrace Family, the 2 restaurant meals are always amazing food, but nothing can compare to a home cooked meal by the Embrace Coaches. Going up for 2nd’s or even 3rd’s is not frowned upon, and at the end of the week there is sometimes a bake off, what runner doesn’t like CAKE!
There’s a reason this Run Camp has such a high number of returning customers, we really are treated like Family!
As one of the few newbie’s on this trip, I very quickly saw why Embrace have such a high athlete return rate. Amazing locations, great diversity of runs, brilliant food and culture and an overall fantastically balanced week. The coaches and fellow runners who had been before were all welcoming and supportive. Before departing I was worried I would not be able to finish the week as it seemed like a lot more running compared to my usual schedule , but the week is tailored in such in a way that is beneficial to all level of runners. I loved every run. What you can do with the right support and environment is amazing. Great fun and will be back for sure!
This was my second time on an Algarve Running Holiday with Embrace and it won’t be my last!
The coaches are awesome athletes and top class chefs too. They also drive you around to all the great run locations and sort out all the logistics, meaning that all you need to do is sleep, eat, run, repeat! And chill out by the pool 🙂
It’s a great way to spend a week in the sun, training hard but also eating plenty of great food and enjoying the company of like minded people.
Thanks again guys!
Great time on a first trip like this for me. If you have been before you know how well these guys run this and if you haven’t then just go – you wont be disappointed! don
Vegan runner heaven! Holidays are often tricky if you’re vegan but the coaches at Embrace were wonderful, taking my dietary demands entirely in their stride and creating fantastic, delicious and nutritious meals every evening especially for me. The personal approach permeates everything they do, so the runs were thoughtfully organised to be adaptable for everyone in the group. The scenery was amazing, the accommodation great and the people lovely. Looking forward to next time!
When u make some decisions based on google search there is always place for some uncertainty and mistake. Luckily Emrace Sport appeared to be the very best decision based on internet surfing. Here are some core highlights from my first experience.
1) Organization of overall holiday is built really effective: 1. Transfers which actually is very supportive point especially when u travel for the first time 2. Comfortable living conditions 3. Thorough daily schedules w/fair work load and deserved relaxation afterwards; 4. Catering system that’s based on varity and considers work load and specifics of participants (e.g. vegeterians/vegans, etc) 5. Inclusion of different training locations which allows not only to run-run-run but to admire incredible Portuguese landscape.
2) Each coach appears to be a super nice person on a positive wavelengh and a proffesional who can support you w/your training FAQ list.
3) Trainings apart from 10 out of 10 workload, challenges and variaty of acsents offer different locations what is super important if you are a fan of beatiful nature and landscapes. And what is important after such sessions you feel that your body improves and level of confidence in face of new challenges step by step increases.
4) Such trip is a great opportunity to meet new and unique people who apart from sport goals most likely will share w/you some interesting stories.
5) Location itself is for sure one of the best for training sessions. Already mentioned beatiful landscape, mountains, water, sun, even rain will allow for several days to live in different Portuguese dimension.
The overall mark is 5+ out 5. Thank you, guys
This was my second time on this training holiday and. yes, I’d go back again! This is a fantastic area to train in – there is a good variety of terrain to run on (hilly coastal tracks, woodland trails, beach, boardwalk etc) and the coaches ensure that all are used to have maximum impact on training. The training week is well structured and supplemented by wonderful food (the coaches should be on Masterchef!) and plenty of opportunities for recovery, so enables everyone to achieve a lot more than they thought they were capable of. A great week – highly recommended!
Another fantastic Embrace training camp for the Catt Family. Last time we came along I was six months pregnant and this time we brought our daughter along with the running buggy. I can’t tell you how amazingly supportive and accommodating everyone was – the coaches were fantastic and the fellow campers were all so friendly and welcoming to our little family. We managed to combine the best of both – holiday and running! Our daughter completely loved it and made lots of new friends – a complete success and we will definitely be back again. Oh, and the food is great, accommodation superb and it’s just a pleasure to spend a week in the company of like-minded individuals. Thank you!
A fantastic experience and despite being a returning runner I enjoyed new opportunities this time inc. a run up Montchique mountain and some ocean swimming to watch the sunrise. Some spectacular sessions sharing with incredible people and staff – motivation to improve for next time! 🙂
‘Camp #4 with the embrace guys and another great camp. They continue to strike the right mix of good running and training, great runs, but as importantly a relaxed, friendly and communal atmosphere – I enjoy the cooking, chat and evening drinks as much as the runs. Always a nice bunch of people in attendance. Good one boys!
A second trip and now a ‘repeater’, like most people that visit. Guess that says it all – people go back because these guys do a great job and help create the perfect environment to challenge yourself.
My first of hopefully many holidays with Embrace and will be returning soon enough. It’s a brilliant mixture of running training combined with a really lively and fun social element. Not only have I felt a great improvement in my running but made many friends along the way, a huge well done to the Embrace team for making a perfect week!
My first time at Embrace.
My only regret is that I had not spotted Embrace before now.
Excellent accomodation, food, weather, location, coaching, company.
Great holiday and thoroughly recommend this to any runner no matter what your level.
Looking forward to meeting some of my newly made friends at the next one.
This was my first time with Embrace Sports and the first time I had done a holiday like this and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Not only are the Coaches incredible athletes and very knowledgeable, they are very, very, VERY good cooks making enough food to make sure that you are fully fueled for the next days runs. The atmosphere throughout the week was relaxed and encouraging helping many of the runners, including myself, hit new PB’s. They make sure that the week still feels like a holiday.
The runs themselves were very well managed allowing everyone to work at their own rate during the harder sessions as well as the recovery sessions. The surroundings were varied and stunning making the miles just tick by. The different sessions that we did from track to hills to trail kept it fresh and fun each day. I can not recommend this enough and I am already looking forward to my next trip with Embrace.
This was my first ever training holiday and I wasn’t disappointed! Each day offered something different whether it was beautiful coastal or woodland trails, or the tough endurance session of running up the mountain in Monchique. A fantastic group of people to train with and the coaches were really knowledgeable, great motivators and amazing chefs!
I couldn’t recommend it more – the sense of achievement at the end of each day and the perfect balance of training hard and recovery time was spot on! I will definitely be back!
Another great week with Embrace! The ideal mix of training sessions and relaxed atmosphere with great coaches and other like minded people.
Still buzzing from my third running holiday with Embrace! Fantastic training location, a real variety of sessions designed to cater for all abilities. The coaches love what they do, they think of everything so you don’t have to, they are keen a give advice and also cook some fantastic meals to set you up for the next day of training. Can’t wait to go back!
This was my third running break with Embrace. So they must be doing something right. The ‘right’ is a great mix of running training – including off road, beach, hill and track sessions – that friendly and supportive coaches tailor to provide the right level of challenge depending on each runner’s experience and/or aims. Add on great food – those coaches can also cook up a storm. And a whole bunch of people who may start out as strangers but will soon be friends.
